Hazlewoods, the Gloucestershire based accountants and business advisers, have won a major national award for professionals providing high quality independent advice in the health and care sector.
The firm was presented with the Management Consultancy Award in the 2015 LaingBuisson Awards at a glittering ceremony in London’s Lancaster Hotel on Wednesday (November 11).
Now in their tenth year, the prestigious LaingBuisson Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the healthcare sector and were attended by more than 800 people.
Hazlewoods partner Andrew Brookes, who was one of the founders of the firm’s health and care team in 1992, was presented with the Management Consultancy Award by former Government Minister, broadcaster and political commentator Michael Portillo.
Hazlewoods received the accolade out of 187 finalists chosen from more than 500 nominations involving health and care professionals, projects and organisations throughout the UK.
The distinguished panel of award judges included former Health Minister Stephen Dorrell.
Andrew Brookes said: “It was absolutely amazing to win this award and I am delighted for everyone in our hard working health and care team.
“We were up against some very strong finalists and I think this is recognition of Hazlewoods outstanding national reputation for knowledge and expertise in the health and care sector.”
The 36-strong health and care team at Hazlewoods covers three main areas: corporate finance involving the buying and selling of businesses; audit, accounts, tax and advisory; and thirdly, transaction services covering financial and tax due diligence.
In the 12 months up to December 31, 2014 the health and care team at Hazlewoods completed 43 transactions valued at £185 million.
The team’s experience covers all sectors of social care but is especially strong in areas of specialist care ranging from independent foster care agencies, domiciliary care, challenging behaviour and mental health to day nurseries, children’s services, care for those with eating disorders, secure units and elderly nursing and residential care including dementia care.
Andrew Brookes leads the team with fellow partners David Main, John Lucas and Rachael Anstee. Last year Andrew was named as one of the 50 most influential people in the UK’s health and care industry in the HealthInvestor Power Fifty awards.
With clients all over the UK the Hazlewoods team has a deep knowledge of the health and care sector.
